Speeding may cost you your EZ Pass

Drivers who speed* through the EZ Pass toll lanes on a regular basis now run the risk of having their EZ Pass account suspended for up to one  year.  Citing the safety of drivers merging from both the cash and EZ Pass tolls, Port Authority is sending speeders warning letters after the first offense.  Subsequent offenses will cost motorists a 60 day suspension on their EZ Pass account, followed by 180 days, and then 1 year.

*The speed limit in the EZ Pass lane is 5 mph.
