Crossing the new Tappan Zee Bridge may cost you $30

According to the Times Herald Record, there is still no budget or plan on how to pay for the new Tappan Zee Bridge.  Analysts have calculated the bridge's costs around $5.2 billion, which could cause tolls to skyrocket from $5 to up to $30.

Gov. Cuomo plans to fund the project using federal loans, toll backed bonds, and pension funds.  He admits a toll increase is to come, and that it "would be consistent with other Hudson River crossings and include deep local discounts."  The governor is aiming to begin construction in August, but must have a financial plan before the federal government will sign off on the project.
